Kate Schreiner-Me? You want to know about me?
Sure; -I drink coffee more than water. -I'm pretty darn funny, if I do say so myself. -I'm great at pointing out ironies. -I love a good glass of merlot or a proper pint- I'm not picky. -Travelling and experiencing new things has become one of my newest, and most fulfilling passions. -Pursuing a life in fashion has been my longest, most rewarding goal. -I own 65 pull over sweaters... which brings me to my next point: -I have WAY too many clothes. Can't stop, won't stop. -I have lived where no (wo)man has ever thought of going- Finland (because it's really cold up there). -I will most likely (okay, all the time)... wear a turtle neck during the summer. -I Love a good sunset over a city. -Dogs > Cats (sorry not sorry). -I've been converted from a heels girl, to a sneakers girl. -I hate shopping for denim. -I love to laugh. -Olivia Palermo is my style icon.... -So are the Olsen twins. -My parents always said "if I don't make it in fashion, I definitely will have a career in comedy". -and, I occasionally neglect my blog like a bus driver occasionally neglects to stop at your bus stop- it happens. |
Let Me Fill You In- Now that you know a tad more about the girl behind the screen, I should probably tell you where it all began *Cue flashback harp sound and ripple that insinuates we've gone back in time*
Once upon a time I was 8 (shocking, I know) and that's when I knew I needed to be in the fashion industry. The end. No, I'm kidding... After my "velour track suit and unbrushed hair" days, I somehow developed a sense of style... and it grew up as I did. "Colour, texture, pattern, shine" as miss Stacey London would say, were what intrigued me most about clothing and the endless options of pairing these elements and principles together. It was all so fascinating to me. Once I started looking into fashion as a post secondary option, I pretty much dropped everything I was doing at that time- piano lessons, playing ringette, and being a referee (yes, I wore a black and white vertical stripe jersey... but in my defence, the vertical stripe makes my petite frame look taller...) all to focus on my entrance portfolio. In short-I've spent the last 3 years dedicated to my bachelor degree in Fashion Design & Technology, which I will be completing this year. I've been so fortunate that my schooling has taken me overseas to study abroad in Helsinki, Finland, and has given me the opportunity to intern with a Vancouver fashion company which lead to employment. Lets just think about this for a second: 21 years old, completed 3 out of my 4 years of uni, lived in Helsinki, already working in the industry, and will have a full degree under my belt a few months 'short' of my 22nd birthday. Well done, if I do say so myself. |
