Ahhh København....
Do you ever just love a place so much that you can't wait to get back there again? Obviously... silly question.
I was very lucky growing up to be exposed to a large portion of Europe as a lot of my mom's side of the family lives in Germany. This time around, I got to experience a part of Europe that had never really been on my radar... at all. To me, those Scandinavian countries were a kind of like, "what's a Finland?" I didn't know much about them.
After the experience of living in Finland and travelling the Scandinavian countries, they are, hands down, some of the best places I have ever been to and in my mind, far better than the rest of Europe.
There is just a certain charm to these countries. They are very simple, yet happy places where the people are always in a good mood, incredibly modest, insanely beautiful (and tall), and had the best style I've ever seen. I had never been to any place like it, and I must say that there is no other country that compares to a Scandinavian country. So my advice, bump Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, and Russia up on your travel list. You'll be glad you did.

In case I didn't sell it enough for you in my first paragraph, did I mention that you can drink a pint in a swan shaped paddle boat? No? Well you can and it's great. My Finnish friend Pinja and I arrived on such a lovely day, the sun was shining, and we were clearly dressed for Finnish weather....
We really had no expectations of Denmark and decided to take advantage of going with the flow, wandering, and seeing where we would end up. We wandered to the Old Port in Nyhavn, through the Tivoli Gardens, saw the little mermaid statue, and wandered past the royal family of Denmark's residence.
To say the least we were super impressed with the lifestyle, culture, and history behind Denmark, and not to mention, they have killer flea markets. We rented bikes, visited a hostel bar, met some other cool Canadians & international people, and even hit up the Carlsberg Brewery for a pint or 8....

The best way to find accommodations throughout Europe is to book through AirBnB. I booked through the site for accommodations in London, Russia, and Copenhagen and was pleasantly surprised with each flat/hostel!
We got very lucky to find a beautiful flat in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen. It was so close to a train station, and with our bikes, it was in a great location to get just about anywhere!
