Actually, it's usually about us, let's be honest- which is why we get to call certain styles the "boyfriend jean", "boyfriend shirt", or "boyfriend sweater".
We've adapted this baggier & cozier approach to dressing lately, which insinuates that we've raided our boyfriends closets and took his favourite sweater to wrap ourselves in. However, the fashion gods don't actually want us to raid their closets because they care about fit more than anything.
Women's wear has essentially always been derived from menswear- we've seen it in the past, and we definitely see it now. From the dramatic power suit of the 80's that made women feel like a boss, to the contemporary women's ready-to-wear with masculine features that we see coming down the runway now-a-days, menswear has always influenced the women's style scene. Not only do we see this style on the couture catwalks of almost every fashion capital in this world, but it's also a huge casual style-which although is on the looser side of fit-is seemingly chic when paired with the right things.

You can't go wrong with a button up shirt, and I for one, am a complete sucker for a button up shirt. I was "browsing" through H&M, as one does, and came across this lovely blueish/grey and white vertical stripe piece. Although purchased in a size 2, the fit is meant to be a bit roomy. Not only does it look like I stole this from my imaginary boyfriend, but it is also super comfortable while still looking a lil chic. I left the shirt untucked from the jeans for a very casual look to balance out the bold shoe. I paired a slight acid wash, light weight, ripped denim skinny jean which adds to the casualness of the untucked and (unintentionally) wrinkled shirt. To add some interest to the outfit and to create contrast, I wore a bold patent leather, strappy pointed toe flat. This shoe takes the overall casual outfit and makes it unique and more interesting to take in. I love taking items that "don't go" and making them "go". The best part fashion is getting to play with style!
